SWL Dispute Resolution
Solicitors to the Construction Industry
Established in April 2006 by Robert Sliwinski, SWL was set up to provide litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediation and advocacy services to the construction industry. Other areas of law covered by the practice include civil litigation and professional negligence.
Based in Beaconsfield, South Buckinghamshire SWL is ideally placed to cover London and the South East, the M40 corridor and the West Midlands.
As a Fellow of the RICS and formerly a practising Barrister, Robert has over 25 years’ experience of the construction industry, with a particular emphasis on dispute resolution. While engaged as a Quantity Surveyor with direct responsibility for the running and overseeing of construction contracts, he started to concentrate on dispute resolution within the industry until becoming a full time construction lawyer in 1990.
Robert practiced at the Bar until 2000 dealing with civil, professional negligence and construction law issues. During this time he began to undertake arbitration and adjudication disputes, acting not only as the client’s representative but also the decision maker. Robert is also a member of the American Bar Association having been called to the New York State Bar in 1998.
In 2001 Robert returned to the commercial arena first as the Director of Legal Services for a consultancy dealing with construction related disputes and then as a Partner of a large regional solicitors practice jointly heading up the Construction Department.
As an Adjudicator and Arbitrator, Robert has received appointments from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Construction Industry Council and the Association of Independent Construction Adjudicators.
Robert also has a Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration and is a member of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation.
